Call for papers

“Social museology and the new challenges of ICOM Dubai 2025”

There is currently a profound international debate arising from the approval by ICOM (2022) of the new museum definition of Museums, together with the ongoing process of reviewing the Code of Ethics, with the necessary introduction of issues related to the Social dimension of Museums, already included in the 2015 UNESCO Recommendation concerning the Protection and Promotion of Museums and Collections, their Diversity and their Role in Society.

In this context, the Journal Cadernos de Sociomuseologia (SCOPUS Q3) in partnership with the International Committee of Social Museology SOMUS-IC, considered it would be appropriate to publish a special issue (September 30, 2025 expected publication) dedicated to the aforementioned issues, as a contribution to the ICOM General Conference to be held in Dubai in November 2025, and are therefore launching this call for papers.
