We are delighted to announce the opening of the registration for our upcoming conference. Please not that due to the location, places are limited. Below you will also find some information about the program, locations and travel information.

Conference Theme

This conference invites participants to reflect on the relationships between museums, collections, communities and territories, particularly in contexts where museums act as facilitators of cultural continuity, social participation and sustainable development. Venues of the conference

Túcume Site Museum:
The Museum is located at the foot of Cerro Purgatorio and surrounded by the 26 pyramids that make up the Túcume Archaeological Complex in northern Peru. Founded on August 20, 1992, the museum has developed a long-standing model of collaborative heritage management, integrating archaeological research with social engagement and community participation.

PROGRAMA DE BECAS DE VIAJE PARA MIEMBROS DE ICOM 2026
Apoyo para la participación de miembros en la conferencia

SOMUS – COMCOL – ICOM
16–20 de agosto de 2026, Perú

Con el fin de fomentar la participación de colegas de SOMUS – ICOM en las actividades de SOMUS – COMCOL – ICOM , anunciamos hasta cuatro (4) becas de viaje de setecientos euros (€700) cada una para miembros de SOMUS, y una (1) beca de viaje de mil doscientos euros (€1.200) para un miembro joven de SOMUS (hasta 35 años) que deseen participar en la Conferencia Internacional conjunta de los Comités Internacionales COMCOL (Coleccionismo) y SOMUS (Museología Social), titulada:
“Museología Social, Sostenibilidad y Gestión Comunitaria de Colecciones”
La conferencia tendrá lugar del 16 al 20 de agosto de 2026 en el Museo de Sitio Túcume, Lambayeque, Perú.

ICOM MEMBERS’ TRAVEL GRANT PROGRAMME 2026
Support for Members’ Participation in the

SOMUS – COMCOL – ICOM
16–20 August 2026, Peru

To encourage the participation of SOMUS – COMCOL – ICOM colleagues in SOMUS – COMCOL – ICOM activities, we are pleased to announce up to four (4) travel grants of seven hundred Euros (€700) each for SOMUS members and one (1) travel grant of one thousand two hundred euros (€1,200) for young members of SOMUS (up to 35 years of age) who wish to participate in the joint International Conference of the International Committees COMCOL (Collecting) and SOMUS (Social Museology), entitled:
“Social Museology, Sustainability and Community-Based Collections Management”
The conference will take place from 16–20 August 2026 at the Túcume Site Museum, Lambayeque, Peru.
